Welcome to version 6.0
Greetings and welcome to the sixth version of Ulujain.org. This is the first time in nearly nine years that this site is hosted with somebody other than CPHosting. Like a lot of Linux-based hosts, CPHosting kept their servers secure (debatable) by crippling and/or limiting what you could and could not do.
Firstly, they disabled the exec() function of PHP, which is needed to execute third party programs used by some apps. For mine, I used Gallery and the netpbm series of graphics libraries. Well, they nixed that, and then I couldn't run Gallery how I wanted. GD at the time didn't cut it. So, I trashed Gallery and looked around for an option where I could create thumbnails. I ended up going with a perl app called Album.pl. It's fine in its own way, but doesn't hold a candle to Gallery re: functionality.
The final straw for me and what prompted me to go with a new host was CPHosting's disabling of SSH. The file manager app in cPanel doesn't cut it.
So, here I am with a new host, running Drupal and Gallery as an embedded app. And all is fine. SSH works, PHP is not crippled in any way I can see and life is good.
The new host is Ithought.org. I recommend them, and no, the owner isn't paying me to say this.
