Three Rivers Continent: Corsor and Nae

Corsor

North of Jelotnar, in Corsor proper, lies Port Thranoph. This port sits on the very edge of the Geli Peninsula, and serves as a haven for fishing vessels in the Sea of Marnopyre. It falls under the same jurisdiction Jelotnar does, however the people here consider themselves superior to the "yokels" down south, feeling their roots lie with the ancients of Mynatan itself. Whatever the situation, Port Thranoph is a sleepy town far removed from the odylic morass which inhabits a lots of this continent. Inland of Port Thranoph lies Yorhel, an undistinguished village surrounded by weird and odd pre-Collision ruins. This is also the location of the outlet of the River Yann.

Inland further is the old expanse of the Jyan Forest, a haunt of mutants unleashed by mentally-bereft sorcerers. Naturally, it is avoided by wayfarers; further in is the city-state of Nusune in Corsor proper. This city is remarkable for the floating towers which hover over its walled confines, products of mighty odylicism and rumoured gateways inside the Argence. Nusune is ruled by a synod of sorcerers and the city-state holds sway over a fair amount of Corsor land. Further west is the town of Girned, hard by the southern extent of the Chain. Across the Chain lies Arimorn and the cities of Argyre and Ardnes. Further north, at the spring of the Urosp, lies the city of Kilvisti. Kilvisti, which lies in Nae, is the home of the powerful Hanse, a merchant league to rival the guilds of Fenstre.

Kilvisti, after Kyxx and Fenstre, would be the Three Rivers' third largest city. The Hansers dominate trade and politics over most of northern Arimorn, all of Nae and parts of Oloi, never to the point to antagonize those versed in dire magic or those capable of raising vast armies, like Fenstre itself. Nonetheless, the Hansers of Kilvisti brook no independent traders or entrepreneurs and those carrying goods for sale must be licensed and have to tread carefully while on Hanser land.

The Hansers are a race distinct to themselves, an admixture of Thads, Kellems and the more shorter and solid folk of wild Romblesey. They speak a language distinct from the remainder in this part of Fels. Kilvisti is ancient, being built upon the ruins of Shuganidz settlements 12,000 years ago. A lot of the city has been rebuilt from the ruins of the old. Unlike a lot of ancient towns, the Attuned Wind never built here.

As it sits hard against the foothills of the Chain, Kilvisti's backdrop is a dramatic one of mountain peaks. Nearby volcanoes have decimated this part of the world previously and smoke from various calderas make for ominous viewing.

Nae

Nae itself is a land of rolling plains. Once a kingdom belonging to the precursors of the Hansers, it is now, like all other lands mentioned so far, a non-political region. Nae is bordered to the west by the Myrtna Sea, to the south by the River Urosp and Arimorn, to the east by the Chain and to the north by the River Coutte and the lands of Oloi and Romblesey.

Kilvisti is its largest city. West of Kilvisti across an expanse of savannah lies the caravanserai of Gymanas, a totally nondescript crossroads place under the rule of the Hansers. Further west is the village of Threef, near the Tharn Forest, the road ends at Logisorde on the Myrtna Sea coast. Logisorde is a busy port serving ships faring up and down the littoral and occasionally to Lwedne or into the Fairge to Fenstre and Port Diales. Logisorde is a Hanser city although their rule is a little more obscure and local guildsmen often rule as oligarchs here. Logisorde is also the southernmost point of the Myrtna Track, which runs all the way up the west coast of the Three Rivers as far as Tilander, on the marge between the Desert of Khuior and the land of Roze.

North of Gymanas lies the famous town of Miener Column. Named after the 300 metre tall column in the midst of the town, Miener Column is a crossroads place, a locale for many travellers en route for elsewhere. Miener Column sits in the geographic centre of Nae and the eponymous landmark is visible from a long way off across the savanna.

An image of Miener Column

To the north of Miener Column lies the town of Losbokk Ford, right on the mighty River Coutte, one of the "Three" Rivers. This demarcates Nae from Oloi as well. Losbokk Ford is the only place on this great river that is fordable. Far west of Miener Column, on the Myrtna Sea coastline is the town of Thyrdd, another Hanser town. In the other direction, tucked in a bend of the Chain is the settlement of Rinaire. Rinaire is the continents closest thing to an alpine resort or a hill station as it sits on an elevation of nearly 2500 metres above sea level. Its views over the nearby vast Tontomsi Forest are grand.

All of these places are under Hanser control, at least nominally. East of Rinaire, through the high Glarfiatu Pass is Corsor once more. The first town the road comes to is Alodde, on the Coutte. A ferry moves travellers over the broad river here and the north bank is in ancient and genteel Mynatan. South-east of Alodde is Alderle.

Alderle, like Fenstre, Kilvisti and Kyxx, is ancient. It is a kingdom city-state, ruled by a Vice-Marquis. It is walled city and the people, the Alderla, consider themselves a race all to their own. They speak Gartha however and racially they are like the folk of Mynatan. Alderle has about 150,000 residents, making it the fourth-largest city in the Three Rivers and it is a cosmopolitan and open place full of flying flags and Ruritanian traditions unlike the xenophobic Canal Society, the competitive and mercantilist Hansers or the elitist and distant folk of Kyxx.

Due to this lifestyle, it has become the home of many exiled folk from all over the Continent, including branches of the De Florio and Drivandad septs of Fenstre. Alderle is also the place where Aegyptus Juvens entered the Argence and gained the Triocular.

Northeast of Alderle lies Isindrea, another Coutte river town. This small settlement serves as a river port for the numerous travellers moving up or down this great river. At the Coutte's exit into the Sea of Marnopyre lies the port of Couttemouth. Couttemouth is north of the river and properly is in Mynatan, a fact the residents like to point out to the "rustics" south of the Coutte. Apart from this, it is nondescript.

South of Couttemouth, along the cliffs of the coastline lies Phendos, a bleak little walled city ruled by a group of syndics. Phendos adheres to a religion that life and sentience emanate from the dawn, similar to the creed of Mniops.

Folk who live on the west coast are given short shrift here as this religion is law in this region. Naturally, visitors only pass through Phendos when they have to. The area is rich is gemstones and ruins, making it a magnet for miners and the curious, a state which brings revenue to this narrow-minded little town.

On to Mynatan itself
